A disturbing video of Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, appears to show Kanye telling his wife to take off her fur coat on the Grammys’ red carpet, while Bianca is only wearing a flesh-colored slip with no underwear. Kanye and Bianca reportedly got married in January 2023, roughly two months after his divorce from Kim Kardashian, and in recent months, Bianca has been spotted wearing a variety of provocative outfits, from walking barefoot in the street to wearing a pillow as a dress.
The pair was photographed in Los Angeles last year, with Bianca sporting a transparent raincoat and Kanye sporting a full face mask and an enormous poncho made of polyethylene. It is rather unsettling to picture a fully clothed man with a woman who is completely nude (except from a garbage bag).
It is fair to say that a number of these appearances are insulting, demeaning, and humiliating. This worry for Bianca stems from the belief that Kanye is the one who styles her. They haven’t acknowledged or refuted this in public. There is precedent, some admirers counter, for Kanye to have fashion control over his partner’s attire.
Kim Kardashian stated, “I always thought I had really good style – until I met my husband [Kanye] and he told me that I had the worst style,” in a 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. After dressing herself without his fashion input, Kim said in a 2022 episode of The Kardashians that Kanye had informed her she looked like a “cartoon character.” This was four years later after the first incident.
We don’t know the specifics of Kanye and Bianca’s styling arrangement, but it’s crucial to remember that a partner telling you what to wear can be a sign of coercive control, which is a type of domestic abuse. Kanye has previously used his contentious relationships and eye-catching style to establish himself as a fashion icon, gaining a global following that imitates his looks.
Dangerous precedents are created by public people like Kanye West, and disregarding or tolerating problematic behavior promotes the idea that manipulation and control are acceptable in relationships, particularly for those who are wealthy and powerful. By exposing violence and establishing a culture that acknowledges and confronts abusive behaviors, the media, fans, and society as a whole must change the narrative. Even though Bianca Censori isn’t publicly seeking assistance, she is stuck in a scenario that makes leaving seem impossible.
