The 2023 GRAMMY Awards candidates have finally been revealed, and as is customary, gay musicians made a strong showing, stepping up and receiving nominations — including in the major categories.
The most nominated person in history is Beyoncé, who received 9 nominations, tying her husband Jay-Z for the most nominations ever with 88.
Kendrick Lamar, who received eight nominations this year, is closely followed by Brandi Carlile and Adele, who both received seven nominations. Lizzo received nominations for her albums, songs, and records of the year in all three of the Big Three categories, while Brandi Carlile and Steve Lacy each received nods for two of the categories.
Additionally, a variety of genres, including pop, rock, country, and R&B, are represented at this year’s GRAMMYs. As a result, openly LGBTQIAP+ performers may take home prizes for album of the year, best new artist, record of the year, song of the year, and record of the year.
