5. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – Box-office gross: $2,048 billion

In 2018, the MCU gathered almost every one of its characters for an epic showdown with the series’ villain, Thanos. Marvel’s superheroes, like Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, etc. all came together in order to take down their common enemy, Thanos, who is planning on collecting all of the 6 Infinity Stones. The fate of the Earth lies once again in the hands of the Avengers, who fight together in this incredible blockbuster. The movie was a huge success at the Box Office, as it hit $2 billion in just 48 days. The fact that the movie ended with one of the biggest cliffhangers in cinematic history and the audience had to wait for a whole year to find out what happened, definitely gives extra points to this epic film.

4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) – Box office gross: $2,068 billion

Star Wars is one of the most famous franchises of all time. The question was though whether people were still interested in it after so many years. Apparently, given the huge Box Office success, audiences were thrilled to watch one more installment of the franchise. With a brand-new cast, along with the original trio of the franchise, Luke, Han, and Leia the adventure was one of a kind. The film follows a group of heroes all coming together to face a new threat. In order to save themselves, they must find the Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker, and the whole journey is incredible. The movie had the highest opening weekend in history until now, so I guess it is safe to say that people were still interested in the Star Wars franchise.

3. Titanic (1997) – Box-office gross: $2,187 billion

In 1997, Titanic first came out in theaters and immediately became a global phenomenon and blew up the Box Office, something that was unprecedented for the time. The movie remained for 15 consecutive weeks at number 1, got nominated for 14 Oscars, won 11 of them, and the stars of the movie became a worldwide sensation overnight. Titanic follows Rose DeWitt Bukater, portrayed by Kate Winslet, a first-class girl that shares her experience of being onboard the Titanic on her first and last voyage in April 1912. Onboard the ill-fated ship, she meets Jack Dawson, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio, a drifting artist who is traveling as a third-class passenger. Through their journey, they fall in love but then Titanic collides with an iceberg, and everything falls apart. Titanic is a film that became an instant classic and is considered one of the best movies of all time. It is safe to say that we will never let go of this movie.

2. Avengers: Endgame (2019) – Box-office gross: $2,797 billion

People from all over the world had been holding their breath for a whole year after one of the biggest cliffhangers of cinematic history. Once the movie was out, theaters were packed. In only 8 days, the film managed to gross a half billion and the records were falling one behind the other. How could they not, you may ask, as the film contains one of the most epic battles of all time. All of the Avengers are reunited once again in order to undo the damage done by Thanos. Everyone was there — Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel join forces for an epic showdown.

1. Avatar (2009) – Box-office gross: $2,847 billion

The highest-grossing film of all time is a sci-fi fantasy film, directed by James Cameron. Until the release of Avatar in 2009, Titanic, which was also directed by Cameron, was the highest-grossing film of all time and no one believed that this film was going to surpass it. But it did, and it has been the highest-grossing film for 10 years. The film follows Jake Sully, portrayed by Sam Worthington, who is a paraplegic ex-marine and gets stranded on an alien planet, called Pandora. The planet is home to exotic creatures called Na’vi and Jake tries to blend in with them. Along his journey, he falls in love with one of the Na’vi women, called Neytriri, portrayed by Zoe Saldana. Avatar spent 7 straight weeks at number 1, and after 47 days of its release, it became the highest domestic earner of all time.
